Zum heutigen Retrofreitag habe ich eine Reihe herausgesucht, die schon etwas älter ist. Bisher habe ich nur den ersten Band gelesen, denn erst vor Kurzem habe ich festgestellt, dass es zwei weitere Bücher zu dem von mir so heiß geliebten ersten Buch gibt.

Im ersten Band geht es um Goldgräber im Wilden Westen. Klingt abgedroschen, aber das Buch war alles andere als das. Der Autor beschreibt sensibel wie es ist, über Monate in einer Hütte umgeben von Schneemassen festzuhängen, den Hunger, das Jagen, das Warten auf besseres Wetter, um endlich diesen Höllenflecken Erde verlassen zu können. Diesen Band gibt es übrigens auf Englisch und Deutsch. Die anderen beiden Bände, soweit ich das feststellen konnte, nur auf Englisch.
